Whoever heard of an owl who was afriad of the dark? "You are only afraid of the dark", said the mother Barn Owl, "because you don't know about it", so she sent her young son Plop down to the ground to talk to all sorts of people who actually like the dark.
A hilarious story about a little owl, who cannot be convinced that he is a night bird and refuses to sleep during the daytime, like normal owls.

Very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very good! It was good because this owl called Plop said "That was nice. What was it?" Daddy owl replies, "Vole". Plop says, "I like vole. What's next?" He says this lots of times in the book. I like it because it's funny.

This is one of my favourite children's books and makes me laugh every time I read it! Jill Tomlinson describes the discovery process that Plop goes through to learn about the dark wonderfully and in doing so enables the reader to go on the same journey with him. You can't help but go around with a grin on your face when at the end of the book Plop conquers his fear and becomes a real night bird.
