I'm reaching out today to see if it's okay if we set up a "Parent Page" on the Children's Books Wiki. Also, if you are okay with it, do you and the other admins have any interest in helping us fill it out?
Here is a Parent Page example from The Hunger Games Wiki to give you an idea of what the page entails. Essentially, it's a guide for parents about the age range for different wikis.
Let me know if you have any questions! We are planning to start setting up the pages over the next week or so. Thanks so much!
HpTiger has made numouerous contributions but they're going a little gun hoe on their editing. I tried to message them on this issue but I don't think they got my message. They are not using the templates using complex coding for descriptions. Can you try to talk to them or at least help me out. I am getting tired of fxing their mistakes. Please
Hello, sorry for not being active on the wiki - very busy at the moment :( Thank you so much for all your editing on the wiki in my absence - it's great to see other editors active here! I realise HPTiger's edits are not always perfect, but I'd prefer to see people adding stuff to the wiki, rather than being 'put off' because they're told they aren't doing it in the correct way. I think it's better if other editors fix those things, rather than criticising too much. Hope that's okay with you!
It's fine. I think their fonts are nice additions, but I try to encourage them to use the templates so that I don't have to add in myself. Been stuck in "Source Mode" since I got Internet 11 and it made it harder to add templates without screwing them up.
My name’s Matt and I’m a community development associate for Wikia. I’m in charge of a monthly feature called “Guided Tours” where I interview experts on a given topic, asking questions about how they got into their area of expertise and how they recommend others do the same. Our next feature is going to be Children's Fantasy -- and the resources on this wiki indicate that you're a fan! Personally, I think the best Children's Fantasy can and should be enjoyed by people of all ages and I'd like to get the word out (and learn more myself) about various quality series.
If you could provide answers, as short or long as you see fit, to the questions below, your responses will be featured in the article. Check out the last Guided Tours article for an example. If you don't have time for this at the moment, please let me know if another admin on your wiki is better suited for the interview.
1. Tell me a bit about yourself and your involvement with the Children's Books wiki.
2. How did you get into children's fantasy?
3. How would you recommend a beginner get into Children's Fantasy? Any particular books/movies/comics/TV shows/games/etc. that would serve as a good starting point?
4. Anything you wouldn’t recommend?
5. Any additional advice you’d give to someone new to Children's Fantasy?
6. What resources on your wiki might be useful to an aspiring Children's Fantasy fan?
