Reader's Reviews[]

This is a great alternative Christmas book. Behind the typically ridiculous illustrations and the simple rhyming text is a surprisingly thoughtful message on what is Christmas all about. Young children will love the mean old Grinch who lives on the hill, especially when he has a change of heart by the end of the book. I recommend it at Christmas, or at any time of year. My only criticism is that the other characters are called whos. This seems odd to me when I read it aloud, and then you have the who-houses and the who-feast etc. I wonder why?

Clean. This is a more advanced book than many of the best-known Dr. Seuss books (like Green Eggs and Ham or The Cat in the Hat), with more detailed text.
