Description[]

Doomwyte is the 20th novel in Brian Jacques' Tales of Redwall series.

Long, long ago, Gonff the Mousethief (who features in Mossflower and The Legend of Luke) stole the eyes of the great Doomwyte idol – a statue of a raven with a snake coiling on his head – and then hid them. The eyes were four great jewels, two blood-red rubies and two beautiful green emeralds. Now, nobeast knows where they are hidden – and the only clues are in cryptic rhymes that Gonff left for others to follow

On a moonless night, two rats follow hypnotic lights into the forest, never to be seen again. Such is the power of the Doomwytes, sinister ravens led by the deadly Korvus Skurr. And when the young mouse Bisky persuades the creatures of Redwall Abbey to go in search of a fabled treasure, hidden long ago by one of the abbey's most notorious thieves, they do not suspect Skurr and his ravens will be vying for that very treasure.

Bisky and his fellow Redwallers must summon all their courage to face the evil horde of slithering snakes and vicious ravens. From underground tunnels to the tops of trees, the fearless Redwallers, with the help of their woodland friends, battle their vicious enemies in an exhilarating, terrifying treasure hunt.

Reader's Reviews[]

1[]

Another excellent Redwall book, full of all the usual suspense and drama. Korvus Skurr, a deadly raven, is an excellent villain – especially when he is attacked by another evil force, Baliss, the giant adder.

Overall, this is a lot better than a the previous Redwall book Eulalia! which I found disappointing, but it's not as good as some of the other books in the series.
