Info[]

Castle of Shadows is a novel by Jean Cullop, and is the second in the Tales of Karensa series. The book takes the form of a Chrsitian allegorical fantasy, much in the style of C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia, minus the talking animals. The book follows Luke and his sister Rosie, the main characters in the first book, Where Dolphins Race with Rainbows, going back to Karensa. Here, they meet up with Petroc and his sister Morwen, their friends from their previous adventure.

Book[]

As the cart clattered across the bridge into the courtyard Morwen reminded herself that she had promised not to go inside the castle. She would only look inside the door and then slip away. But to her horror, the iron portcullis dropped down behind them and a chill of fear gripped her heart. She stumbled and a hand took hers. She looked up and found herself starign at Lord Bellum.

"You see, I was right," he said softly. "Did I not say that one day you would walk right into my castle of your own free will?"

The second in the Tales of Karensa series is just as exciting as the first - possibly better. Our whole family enjoyed this brilliant book.
